Slope Rise and Hose Lay

Vertical gain = path length x sin(slope angle); converts that gain to a pressure effect using the standard 0.434 psi/ft elevation constant.

ℹVerify locally before acting. This tool is a planning and arithmetic aid, not a substitute for training, local SOPs, calibrated instruments, or scene assessment. Confirm critical values independently. Suite status: DRAFT - not yet department-approved for operational use.
When you'd use this: Laying hose up or down a hillside on a wildland incident - convert a measured slope angle and lay distance into the elevation pressure effect before setting pump discharge pressure.

Slope Inputs

Measured, e.g. with a clinometer - not the same as a map-contour grade percent.

Result

Enter the path distance and slope angle, then press Calculate.
