Nozzle Flow and Reaction

Estimates nozzle flow and reaction force for smooth bore or fog nozzles. Fog-nozzle figures are an ideal-orifice approximation only - use the manufacturer's rated curve when available.

ℹVerify locally before acting. This tool is a planning and arithmetic aid, not a substitute for training, local SOPs, calibrated instruments, or scene assessment. Confirm critical values independently. Suite status: DRAFT - not yet department-approved for operational use.
When you'd use this: Training new firefighters on what to expect from a given nozzle/pressure combination, or pre-planning whether a crew can safely handle it - a large smooth-bore tip at high pressure produces enough reaction force to need two or three firefighters on the line, and this quantifies that before the line is stretched.
