Hydrant Flow Test

Estimates flow from a pitot reading at a flowing hydrant outlet, and projects flow at a chosen target residual pressure using the NFPA 291 exponent. Measured and projected quantities are shown separately.

ℹVerify locally before acting. This tool is a planning and arithmetic aid, not a substitute for training, local SOPs, calibrated instruments, or scene assessment. Confirm critical values independently. Suite status: DRAFT - not yet department-approved for operational use.
When you'd use this: Running an annual hydrant flow test, or checking a hydrant during pre-planning for a new development - flow the hydrant, take a pitot reading, then project the available flow at a lower target residual (commonly 20 psi) to compare against ISO or local fire-flow requirements.

Test Inputs

Commonly 20 psi for planning purposes - confirm your department's adopted target.

Result

Enter the test readings and press Calculate to see measured and projected flow.
